Congratulations to all of our Federal Way Public Academy mathletes for their outstanding performance at the 15th Annual Federal Way Math Contest for students in grades 4 through 8! 

Over a hundred students from multiple districts across Washington participated in this exciting event. Our scholars rose to the challenge and excelled in a variety of categories, including Geometry, Mental Math, Algebra, and Gemini.

We are incredibly proud to recognize all of our students who placed first through third in their individual categories, as displayed on the screen. Way to go, scholars, your hard work and dedication truly paid off! We are #FWPSProud!

We are thrilled to celebrate a historic, state-level achievement for our math scholars at Sacajawea Middle School! 

The Sacajawea Math Team traveled to Moses Lake High School to compete in the prestigious, invitation-only Math is Cool Masters State Competition, which brought together over 500 of the top math minds in Washington.

Sacajawea earned their spot after a phenomenal regional showing, where the 6th-grade team took 3rd place and the 8th-grade team captured 1st place.

In their first time ever qualifying for this elite state event, our scholars shined:

• The 6th-grade team captured 2nd place in the state, with Timothy securing an incredible 5th place individual finish!
• The 8th-grade team placed 5th in the state, finishing just two questions away from the state title.

We are thrilled to celebrate Thomas Jefferson High School’s R.A.I.D. Team 4469 for their spectacular performance at the FIRST Robotics World Championships in Houston, Texas! 

Out of more than 3,700 teams worldwide, our Raiders built a robot that ranked as the 3rd highest point scorer in the Pacific Northwest and 49th in the entire world! At the World Championships, Team R.A.I.D. competed against 75 elite international squads in their division, ranking 8th overall and moving on to serve as Alliance Captains for the world finals.

This world-class achievement is the result of thousands of hours of dedication, engineering excellence, and teamwork.

Congratulations, Team R.A.I.D., on an unforgettable season. We are #FWPSProud!

We are excited to celebrate the artistic talents of our elementary scholars who were selected as winners in the Lakehaven Water and Sewer District Water Conservation Calendar Contest! 

This annual contest encourages our students to think creatively about environmental stewardship by designing artwork with a water conservation message. 13 of our talented FWPS elementary scholars had their artwork selected to be featured in the official 2027 Water Conservation Calendar!

We want to give a special shout-out to Quincey D. from Nautilus K-8, who won first place overall and earned the honor of being featured as the 2027 calendar cover winner.

We also extend a thank you to our partners at Lakehaven Water and Sewer District for hosting this contest every year.

Let’s give a round of applause to our amazing third through fifth-grade scholars who participated in the 26th Annual District-Wide Battle of the Books competition at Todd Beamer High School! 

Scholars and staff from our first-place teams, please come forward to be recognized.

To earn a spot in this district tournament, teams first had to win their individual school competitions by reading 12 books and mastering complex comprehension questions.

This year brought an unprecedented, historic three-way tie for first place, with all three championship teams scoring a perfect 37 points across the regular rounds and tiebreakers! We are thrilled to recognize our new district champions:

• From Lakeland Elementary, team Huntrix—marking the first district championship in Lakeland’s history!
• From Rainier View Elementary, team The Potterheads—marking the school’s second district win!
• And from Brigadoon Elementary, team Brightney’s Book Club—marking Brigadoon’s third district title!

We also extend a special thank you to our FWPS library leads, Julie Shields and Christine Young, for making this spectacular event possible.
